Service log: what to record
A simple service history that helps both the owner and the technician.
A simple note is enough
You can keep a service log in a notebook, spreadsheet or phone app. What matters is recording events in order and keeping the documents together.
What to record after servicing
- Date and total operating hours at the time of the work.
- Work carried out.
- References of the parts fitted and materials used.
- Workshop name and job number, if available.
- The technician's advice and the next service date according to the manual.
Separate servicing from faults
Record symptoms separately: when they appeared, under what conditions and what the instruments showed. Keep the exact warning text or a photo.
An instrument reminder is not a repair history
Resetting the service interval does not replace a record of the work. Record the service first, then use the reset procedure for the installed instrument.

Keep a backup
Photos of documents and a backup of your notes preserve the history when you change phones or pass the motor to another owner.
