USING YOUR MOTOR / 3 MIN

Finding your motor's model and serial number

Gather the details needed to find the right manual and parts.

Start with the identification plate

The model and serial number help identify the exact motor version. Plate location varies by manufacturer; see the identification section of the owner's manual.

Photograph the complete marking

Do not crop letters before or after the number: they may identify the version. If part of the marking is unreadable, send the photo to the technician rather than guessing.

The instrument is a separate device

Identical motors can use different tachometers and displays. To find instructions for an instrument, you need its own model. A photo of its front panel and accessible markings can help identify it.

Keep the details together

  • Brand, complete model designation and motor serial number.
  • Year of manufacture, if confirmed by documents.
  • Tachometer or display model.
  • Photos of identification plates and a link to the matching manual.

Similar appearance and identical power do not guarantee identical parts or service procedures. Check that a guide applies to your model before using it.
